Where do I even begin?

From a very young age, I began to notice that we have had to accept that if our hair is not short [for men] or straightened [for women], it's a cause for concern.

Why do we become unemployable when our hair is in an afro?

Why do we become hardened criminals when our hair is locked or twisted?

Why are we subconsciously judged for embracing and expressing ourselves?

Hair is a sign of strength, pride, and power.

Yet, when it comes to black people, our hair is just another way to deem us unworthy of societal standards.

Everyone has the freedom to explore the versatility of their hair.

That is, everyone except us.
